This course traces the major doctrinal and ecclesiological developments from the Reformation up to the present day including: the late medieval church, key figures in shaping Reformation thought, developments in the Post-Reformation period in England and Ireland, the church in the modern period including the growth and development of evangelicalism and the rise of the Baptists.
Learning Outcomes
demonstrate a basic understanding of the key events and issues in the history of the Reformation and modern periods.
describe the significance of the doctrinal disputes and developments during these periods.
illustrate an awareness of and appreciation for the achievements of key figures in the periods concerned.
identify models for imitation in his/her Christian life (see Hebrews 11:1-12:3; 13:7).
